That's right, we are at week 18 of our pregnancy. The visit couldn't have went any better. Both babies are weighing in at 7 ounces which is right where they should be. Their heartbeats were strong too! One was 148 and the other was 146. We will be going back every 2 weeks so they can monitor my cervix. With multiples, there is a greater risk for pre-term labor. By monitoring this, they will make sure everyone is safe. Every fourth week, the nurses will have to measure various parts of each baby. They do this to make sure that the babies are growing at the same rate and are similar in size. If one starts to grow over the other baby in size we could have to look into procedures to change that. However, there is only like a 20% chance of this. They will have to be measured every four weeks, up to week 28.
Shane was not able to go to this appointment because he was with his family at Mayo for Pam's surgery. Since he wasn't there, my Mom came down and got to experience her first ultrasound. It was pretty special! Thanks for making the trip Mom!
