Week 18 Doctor Visit

That's right, we are at week 18 of our pregnancy. The visit couldn't have went any better. Both babies are weighing in at 7 ounces which is right where they should be. Their heartbeats were strong too! One was 148 and the other was 146. We will be going back every 2 weeks so they can monitor my cervix. With multiples, there is a greater risk for pre-term labor. By monitoring this, they will make sure everyone is safe. Every fourth week, the nurses will have to measure various parts of each baby. They do this to make sure that the babies are growing at the same rate and are similar in size. If one starts to grow over the other baby in size we could have to look into procedures to change that. However, there is only like a 20% chance of this. They will have to be measured every four weeks, up to week 28.

Shane was not able to go to this appointment because he was with his family at Mayo for Pam's surgery. Since he wasn't there, my Mom came down and got to experience her first ultrasound. It was pretty special! Thanks for making the trip Mom!

Here are some new pictures of the babies. Enjoy!

Baby A...

Baby B...
Don't get any ideas...that is the umbilical cord! :)

As many of you know, Pam, Shane's Mom, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 2-3 weeks ago. Fortunately, she is up at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She was in surgery yesterday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. I am waiting on word from Shane today on how she is doing. He got to spend a short amount of time with her after she was out of recovery. The doctors were pleased with how the surgery went. Now, they are trying to keep her comfortable while she recovers. There will be more to report later but from the entire Ledford family, thank you for all your prayers and support. As you all know, Pam is a VERY strong woman but will be even stronger with all the prayers from her family and friends!

Congratulations to Brea and Cali...Class of 2009! Shane and I wish you the best at BSU and IU! We look forward to celebrating with you this weekend.

We also hope the Hunley's (Sara, Mike and Aiden) have a safe and FUN family vacation to DISNEY! I expect lots and lots of pictures! :) We can't wait to hear about the trip when you return. Safe travels. We love you!

Our next appointment is in 2 weeks. We'll have more to report then. I am sure there will be a tummy picture posted soon too! It's getting bigger and bigger each day.

Have a great weekend!

Love,
The Ledfords

If you think about it, you are more than likely about half way through your pregnancy already! Are you feeling them move yet? I can only imagine how crazy it would be to have two of them moving around!
